Little Black Dress Initiative 2020

This will be the Junior League of Louisville’s (JLL’s) second Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI). The LBDI is a social media driven awareness and fundraising campaign.  Advocates will wear the same black dress or attire with an “Ask Me About My Dress” button for 5 consecutive working days. Advocates will stimulate discussion about the challenges some of our Louisville youth face, including the impact of poverty on education in Louisville. We will be sharing local statistics about  our children while spotlighting our local partnerships and how the JLL has been working for almost 100 years in our community to impact those in need.

We hope you will join us by taking part in one (or more) of the following:

  • Become an LBDI Advocate and create your own fundraising page supporting the JLL (email LBDI@juniorleaguelouisville.org  to receive our social media toolkit and participant guide)

The funds raised make possible the work and mission of the Junior League of Louisville,  which includes promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. All donations are fully tax deductible. A few of the ways the JLL is using unrestricted donor gifts include: planning and executing mentoring and celebration events for local displaced youth including a Life Skills Fair this spring, equipping Lemonade Day participants with workbooks for success, registering children for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, ensuring adequate inventory of high quality books featuring diverse characters and cultures for our six Little Free Libraries, and investing in the civic leadership development of our members by sponsoring over 20 women to attend leadership conferences in 2020. These funds will increase our capacity to both affect lasting community change and maintain the legacy of impact JLL has made over the past 99 years.
