What started out as a simple Done in a Day (DIAD) project in the spring of 2007, has now (pardon the pun) blossomed into its own year long project under the Community Council! Bloom Boutique's mission is to outfit disadvantaged high school women for prom, giving them the self confidence and tools they need to enjoy this special milestone that several of us take for granted.
Our first event, held at the Muhammad Ali Center, treated these young ladies to some extra pampering from make-up artist, Ruth Anne Harmeling, as well as light hors d'oeuvres and a tour of the museum. Our guests were sent home with a prom gown, purse, Bloom t-shirt as well as a special bag of goodies donated by local merchants. Many thanks to Nu Yale for cleaning and storing the dresses and to our seamstress who provided on-site alterations.
2010 Bloom Boutique Event
Bloom Boutique was held Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Pro-Liquitech/Flavorman building located in downtown Louisville. This year, the Bloom Committee worked with local high school counselors to
identify girls and JLL added a mentoring and community service component to the project. JLL dressed and accessorized about 90 girls for their proms. Click here to see great pictures from the 2010 Bloom Boutique event or view the WHAS11 video.
2011 Bloom Boutique Event
It's official! JLL's Bloom Boutique event will be held on Saturday, March 26th, 2011. Bloom Boutique will be held at the Flavorman Building (809 South 8th Street, Louisville, KY 40203). More details will be coming soon!
